Day 1

So, I am going to assume that anyone deciding to read this blog already knows me, in some shape or form. *insert introduction and rambling about me, yada yada yada*

Glad I got that out of the way. Anywho, Day 1. Day 1 of what? Day 1 of Choose Happy (credit: Jessica Davis). So, my sister-in-law, (probably going to skip the "inlaw" part from here on out, she's more family to me than a lot of my family, but more on that later) Jessica, started posting on Facebook a little while back about "choosing happy" and what-not. In a nutshell, you can be happy if you choose to be happy. That simple. I never really thought I had a lot of application of that thought process; up until recently, I had always just been happy out of habit.

For those who are unaware, I am married, getting a divorce. I am actually excited about the divorce. I'm not so happy bout the fact that I got married out of stupidity. I knew my current wife for 3ish months before we got married. Yes, I'm an idiot; I tend to learn things the hard way. Oh ya, and she still lives with me. Kinda makes me want to wash my mouth out with- nevermind. I won't go there, goddamn PRP. Anyways, there's "unhappiness #1."

Number two: I work in the maintenance field for the Air Force. It's definitely not a bad gig. I enjoy the work I do for the most part. The only problem is that I don't want to do this forever. My dream job: be a math teacher, and in the summer, do something else with my life. Being a skydiving instructor, for example. Instead of going to school to be a teacher, I'm stuck fixing shit for 16 hours a day, every other day, not to mention the fact that I'm only 2.5 years into my 6 year enlistment. Yay me!

Great Falls. Yes, that is a problem. You see, GF is about 65,000 people weak. I mean strong. A majority of those people are retirees from base, and the other majority are active duty base personnel. Put it together and you have nothing to do in this town except drink and play video games. There's not even a Cracker Barrel!! "So just go to the closest  big city. Problem solved!" Ha. Ha ha. GF is the "big city." The main road, 10th Ave S., is less jammed up during rush hour than I-75 is at 3 am. Okay, maybe not that bad, but you get my point.

I'm homesick-ish. Do I cry because I miss my family and friends back in Ohio? No, but I would definitely rather be there than here. I want to be able to bullshit around a fire with Crown n cokes with the family. Right now, I can't.

So, to sum it up- I hate where I am at in life..

Unfortunately, all of the aforementioned things are true. It's shitty. But dammit, I'm going to be happy. I'm going to enjoy each day, even if my "silver lining" is the fact that I didn't have to download my work truck because I got back at 16 hours. **Knock on wood** I'm Choosing Happy, and today is Day 1.

P.S. Ignore the timestamp- I am on nights for the next month or so.

PPS Happy Monday! (Although it's still Sunday for me until I go to bed and wake up.)
